Brass Rod:
Copper rod is a type of non-ferrous metal processing bar, featuring good processing performance and high electrical conductivity. It is mainly divided into brass rods (copper-zinc alloy, relatively cheaper) and copper rods (higher copper content).
Brass rods are bar-shaped objects made from an alloy of copper and zinc, named for their yellow color. Brass with a copper content of 56% to 68% has a melting point of 934–967 degrees Celsius. Brass has excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance, making it suitable for manufacturing precision instruments, ship parts, etc.
Different zinc content results in different colors. For example, a zinc content of 18%–20% yields a reddish-yellow color, while a zinc content of 20%–30% results in a brownish-yellow color. Additionally, brass produces a unique sound when struck, which is why Eastern instruments such as gongs, cymbals, bells, and horns, as well as Western brass instruments, are made from brass.
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Simple brass is a binary alloy of copper and zinc, known as simple brass or common brass. Changing the zinc content in brass can yield different mechanical properties. The higher the zinc content in brass, the greater its strength, though plasticity is slightly reduced. The zinc content in brass used in industry does not exceed 45%, as higher zinc content can cause brittleness and deteriorate the alloy's properties. To improve certain properties of brass, other alloying elements are added to the binary brass, resulting in what is known as special brass. Commonly used alloying elements include silicon, aluminum, tin, lead, manganese, iron, and nickel. Adding aluminum to brass increases its yield strength and corrosion resistance while slightly reducing plasticity. Brass with less than 4% aluminum has good comprehensive properties for processing and casting. Adding 1% tin to brass significantly improves its resistance to seawater and marine atmospheric corrosion, hence it is called "naval brass." Tin also enhances the machinability of brass. The main purpose of adding lead to brass is to improve machinability and wear resistance, with lead having little effect on the strength of brass. Manganese brass has good mechanical properties, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance. Adding aluminum to manganese brass can further improve its properties, resulting in castings with a smooth surface. Brass can be divided into cast and pressure-processed products.
